To gain an invitation to apply for the 189 visa, a candidate is required to demonstrate that he/she is proficient in the English language. For this, a candidate is required to appear for the IELTS language proficiency test. IELTS stands for International English Language Testing System that’s accepted in Australia. The IELTS tests your abilities on the basis of four abilities such as reading, writing, speaking and listening and give you scores from 1 to 9.

There are two types of IELTS test, the first one is IELTS general and the second one is IELTS Academic. Listening and Speaking are the same for both the tests; however, the subject matter of the reading and writing differs upon the type of IELTS test you appear for. You can appear for any of the IELTS tests, be it General or Academic if you want to apply for Australia Immigration.
